Maybe it is most people's natural good
understanding of words that makes them
underestimate the value, to us, of colours,
shapes, space and position.
Put it the other way around, perhaps it is our
increased awareness of something else that
makes words less important and not our poor
understanding of words.
For instance a completely colour blind person
is unlikely ever to appreciate the colours in
a painting, while thinking line drawings are
fantastic!
